Thought for the day
Matthew 6:19-21 19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. #Bible http://j.mp/uLLi2B

DIY SOS – Operation Laura
I sent an email to a few family and friends in September asking for help… In the October half term (2011), Laura was going away for a week and Adam was off to Italy with the school. I didn’t have enough leave to take the whole week off, so I was staying at home… That’s when I had this crazy idea… Wouldn’t it be great if I could finish off some of the house by getting the plastering done in the landing (The walls were in a very bad state), maybe put up some architrave and skirting… while I’m at it, how about tiling the kitchen and painting the living room, oh and the stairs and hallway and why not put some new carpet down too…. It was a load of work… Special thanks go to: Mum & Dad Auntie Elaine & Uncle Keith Simon & Jenny Gary & Jo Stuart […]

How to make a CAT5 / CAT5e Patch Cable
Before you begin creating your CAT 5 patch and/or crossover cable, it’s important to point out that the method outlined here is only one method. It is by no means the only or best method. Also, make sure you have all the necessary tools and materials before you begin. You will need a length of CAT cable, several RJ-45 connectors, and a crimp tool. Most crimp tools have two blades: one designed to cut completely through a cable and the other designed to strip the cable jacket/insulation. Using the latter blade, strip the cable jacket/insulation back about an inch, so all the wires inside are exposed. Be careful not to cut the inside wires when stripping the cable’s insulation. With the jacket/insulation removed, you’ll find eight wires and a string inside the CAT 5 cable. Cut the string off, and untwist the wires back to within one-eighth inch of the […]

Christmas Eve 11pm 2011
I thought I would write down the plan for Christmas Eve 2011, mainly to remind me when it comes around next year, and secondly to share with others in case it helps. The title is always Candlelight Carols but this year I wanted to do something different with the lights. The house spots are just too bright, you may just as well have the main house lights on. So, still with candles, but adding some high level LED PAR64s lighting the tops of the walls, one in each corner (thanks for the borrow bruv), my LED Mega Panels providing a wash on the floor, my Par 36s providing light for the singers and pianist. Finally a 500watt halogen flood light to provide some additional lighting if needed. The plan for the service is to have it run from one PowerPoint set, with the videos embedded, the key points of the […]
