Sunday 3rd April 2011 – Eddie Gjoni – Gideon Defeats the Mideonites

Judges 7
Torches and trumpets- what a way to win a battle with 300 men.
1.
There was a mighty army with 33000 men and God sifted them. God was after quality not quantity.
We need to work on quality in our lives. Build quality lives that will produce quality disciples.
2.
God chose people
Judges 7:9-11 (NIV)
During that night the Lord said to Gideon, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. [10] If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah [11] and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he and Purah his servant went down to the outposts of the camp.
God knows who he Is dealing with. God gave Gideon two options and Gideon chose the option that gave him assurance first. “are we doing the right thing” etc…. God knows who he is dealing with with us too.
3.
Need a strategy.
Gideon had a strategy to divide the men into 3 groups and place them around the Mideonite camp.
But a good strategy is not enough, but we need to remember that God will gives us the victory.
Need a strategy in mind for our MSCs. They may not be perfect but God is.
4.
God is interested in his name being glorified, He does not share his glory with flesh, with us.
Judges 7:22 (NIV)
When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath.
God gave the victory.
All we have to do is step forward, the work is done by God. He will receive the glory, we are the instruments theatre God will use for His purpose and glory.
When God uses us let us remember that it is for His glory and not ours.
