Worship – Sunday 2nd October
Thoughts: It’s been a real mixed bag of a week, this week with it’s highs and lows and to be honest with you, I was struggling with what to say, how to say it today. But God knows me… Luke 12:6 (MSG) “What’s the price of two or three pet canaries? Some loose change, right? But God never overlooks a single one. And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries. God knows what I’m about. Can be seen as daunting maybe scary, but God, the creator of heaven and earth who sent his son Jesus to die for us, loves us and accepts us, through His son. We may mess up say and do things that we regret, walked our own path, but […]

Cheap wireless in ear monitors
I’ve been looking at wireless in ear monitor solutions, scanning eBay for bargains, but it seems that you can expect to pay in excess of £200 for something remotely usable. Then it struck me… We already have a Samson S monitor (£41 on eBay) and a Behringer MA400 (£35 on eBay) If I add a Bluetooth audio transmitter to the headphone socket of one of them, then I can use a Bluetooth audio headset to receive the signal… Et voila wireless in ear monitor solution for less than £80 (or for me with the personal monitor already, less than £40). You can even use a Bluetooth audio receiver with your own headphones. I’ve yet to try it, but it’s well worth giving it a go… Here’s the Samson S Monitor and the Behringer MA400 personal monitors Samsib S-Monitor Behringer MA400 Here’s the the Bluetooth bits and pieces Bluetooth Transmitter Bluetooth Receiver (use your […]

Tim Hughes – Leading Worship Seminar
Who are we leading? Choice of songs and style will have an impact on those we are leading Small groups different to large congregations. Alpha course: not going to do 30minutes of tongues… Songs about washed in e blood of e lamb Always need to be mindful of those we are leading. Is the style accessible, make people feel at Home or freaked out. If you are leading 10 people with an acoustic guitar the dancing generation may not be the best choice.. If you’ve got the full band it’s different. How are we preparing to lead? Practically and Spiritually Worship teams meet, pray, eat together Need to input into the musicians spiritually All of the musicians are worship leaders Drums can impact worship Singers can influence Not just hired musicians levitical calling to minister How do I spiritually prepare? Walk with God in the ordinary daily walk with God […]

Achieving a good mix for worship by Brad Herring
I read this and thought it was really good so am reposting. Original Article here: http:/bluetoad.com/display_article.php?id=685884 Achieving a good mix for worship by Brad Herring It’s one thing to know how to use your equipment. It’s another thing to know how to critically listen to what you are doing, and musically create a good mix. BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS The key to a good sound mix is a good relationship with the worship leader and the band. It’s that simple.Successfully mixing sound on a fundamental level is all about trust. The only way you build trust is through relationships and repeated successful experiences. It’s easy for technically focused people to miss this (or in some cases, avoid this), but it’s a critical part of being successful. Let me elaborate with one specific example: guitar amplifiers on stage.Almost every contemporary church struggles with stage volume. It’s a known and proven fact – […]

Rock Thurrock 1st April 2011 – Ignite the Flame
1st April 2011 saw the first half night of prayer and worship in the run up to the Rock Thurrock event in September and I was privileged to be asked to lead the worship and soaking for the event. Well I spent time as one does in preparation for such an event (and there hasn’t been one that was the first challenge). Just not knowing really how it would go or how many people would turn up; selecting sufficient songs of the right sort that would convey the right feeling was a little daunting to say the least. but with God on my side what could go wrong? Well not much actually, a slight stumble with the bass amp, quickly rectified and we were good to go. Anyway, as a little techie side note, using the iPad with the OnSong App was fantastic, no pieces of paper, no folders, the […]
